Today is SESAME STREET DAY.
It first aired on November 10, 1969. Now, we’re 53 seasons in, with just over 4,600 episodes. AMAZING!
Sesame Street is the longest-running and most widely viewed children’s TV show in the world. It’s watched in over 150 countries, with 30 international versions. The idea came from a public television documentary producer named Joan Ganz Cooney. She wanted to create a show that was educational and entertaining for preschoolers. That’s when she approached Jim Henson to create the puppet characters using his Muppets. Shall we say the rest is history.
BIG BIRD, OSCAR THE GROUCH, BERT, ERNIE, MR. SNUFFLEUPAGUS, GROVER, THE COOKIE MONSTER, ELMO etc.
Remember that time when ADAM SANDLER hung out with ELMO?
