Something you don’t often need official confirmation of; the weather.
However, it is nice sometimes to get the stats.
Senior Climatologist with Environment Canada (EC), David Phillips, spoke with Acadia News on how much snow fell in Thunder Bay.
On average, the city gets about 133cm of snow, but according to his data there was about 200cm that landed. That’s three times the normal amount of snow that usually falls in Thunder Bay.
Temperature wise, it was colder too. Phillips went on to say that the average temp in February was seven degrees colder than normal. A “cold day” is defined by EC as a day where temperatures reach -20 or colder.
In February, there were 20 of those day, and seven of them were colder than -30.
His predictions for March — keep the shovels and snow brushes out. Winter isn’t done with us yet.
