A covid outbreak is in the Thunder Bay Regional Heath Sciences Centre.
Currently the outbreak is contained to Unit 3A.
In an communication to Acadia Broadcasting it was stated that the hospitals Infection Prevention and Control Team were working closely to determine contact tracing of the infected individuals.
It was not detailed if the outbreak was limited to just patients in the unit or if staff were also affected by the virus.
*The Ontario Ministry of Health defines a COVID-19 outbreak in a public hospital as: Two or more laboratory-confirmed COVID-19 cases (patients and/or staff) within a specified area (unit/floor/service) within a 14-day period where both cases could have reasonably acquired their infection in the hospital.
