Ontario is holding out on the $10/day child care, but for what?
The province is the lonely one at the table who doesn’t have a deal with the federal government for $10/day child care after the Northwest Territories and New Brunswick were also the holding out. But they have both since signed, leaving Ontario as the only one in the country without a deal.
Provincial Education Minister, Stephen Lecce has said that the feds promise of $10.2 billion would only bring daycare fees down to $21 a day by 2025, not the $10 that’s been promised.
Neither Doug Ford or Stephen Lecce have said how much money they want from the federal government.
