A fire has left a family of four is alive because of their working smoke detectors.
Friday dinner was interrupted along Machar Street after a bathroom fan malfunctioned and the faulty electrical caught the bathroom on fire.
The tenants and their two small children with the family dog were all able to evacuate quickly. It was the working smoke alarms that alerted the family in time to get out while it was still safe.\
Firefighters searched the home upon arrival to make sure there was no-one left behind.
In the end there were six pumpers and an aerial ladder that were on the scene to douse the blaze.
