Another phone scam is making the rounds for Thunder Bay residents. This one is targeting those with grandkids.
The phone call will look like a local number on your call display, the caller will then tell you that your grandchild is in some sort of trouble. Maybe they need money because of a car accident, jail or some other outrageous plot. The caller wants the person on the other end of the line to feel a sense of urgency and panic to do something now.
According to Thunder Bay Police, the fraudsters will ask for payment in many forms; gift cards, cash or that a courier for the insurance will come and pick up.
Remember to check in those that are vulnerable as fraudsters can be more aggressive with members in the senior community.
