Officials with the Thunder Bay Salvation Army welcomed over 50 motorcyclists bringing toys for children using their programs.
The 38th annual Toys for Tots Motorcycle Ride got underway Saturday afternoon, as a convoy of bikers rode from Thunder Bay Harley-Davidson to the Journey to Life Centre to drop off the toys.
Centre Executive Director Gary Ferguson says the motorcycle clubs are always eager to support initiatives like these.
“If anybody knows anything about the biker community in Thunder Bay, they’re a very charitable group and they’re very happy to be part of that,” he explains. “These individuals put a lot of money and time into the community and help people in many different ways.”
Riders also brought financial donations that the Salvation Army will use to buy toys that will be distributed over the Christmas season.
The ride includes local clubs like the Harley Owners Group, Ontario Northwest Retreads, Superior Riders, and Widows Sons Masonic Riders Association.
