Local paramedics want to move forward with their new roadmap for the next nine years.
City Council received the Superior North EMS Master Plan for 2021-2030 in late January, and now is being asked to approve a plan to carry it out.
Superior North EMS Chief Wayne Gates said the proposal at City Council Monday involves consulting Shuniah and other communities, organizations and First Nations in the district on how to serve them better.
“We really want to build these relationships and partnerships, how can we move forward to make sure we’re providing a good, professional service out there to everybody?” said Gates.
The Chief added the plan already has data leading up to 2019, but they’ve faced challenges during the pandemic and want to get a more current look at the service’s performance.
If the work plan is approved, city staff will start putting it into action and come back early 2022 with an update on their progress.
City Council will also vote on purchasing five new ambulances in 2022 for a total of $796,833.
