Thunder Bay’s surge in COVID-19 cases is not lost on the province’s top doctor.
Chief Medical Officer Dr. David Williams says he is concerned about the numbers for the Thunder Bay area which are higher per 100,000 than the city of Toronto.
“We have been working…with Dr. Janet DeMille the MOH in Thunder Bay and team and staff there….moving in resources…to assist in attempts to curtail this outbreak,” says Dr. Williams.
He adds a lockdown for the district has been considered and they are meeting Thursday night to make a final decision and make a recommendation to the provincial cabinet on Friday morning.
Meantime, Dr. Williams is also supporting the move for schools in the district to move to virtual learning noting that with the number of outbreaks and cases in city schools. It may be best at this time to put a pause on that.”
