The pandemic has finally hit those in the city who are incarcerated.
A COVID-19 outbreak has been declared at the Thunder Bay District Jail and the Correctional Centre.
The Thunder Bay District Health Unit says two individuals associated with the facilities have recently been confirmed to have the coronavirus.
Health officials say they are working with the Ministry of the Solicitor General to continue to monitor and assess the situation.
Further measures, including expanded precautions will be taken as needed to manage the situation.
