Sylvie Hauth is going to become Thunder Bay’s first female police chief.
Police Board Chair Jackie Dojack tells us they hired the best candidate for the job.
Hauth has been with the force for over 25 years, she remarked as a cadet that one day she would be the chief of police.
The soon-to-be chief stresses she has worked hard to improve relationships with the Indigenous community and form new partnerships.
Hauth says she stepped up during a very hard time for the local service and wants to help guide the force through the transition.
The swearing in ceremony will take place on November 20th.
