No one is hurt following a small kitchen fire on the 300 block of Simpson Street.
It was in an apartment unit of the second floor of the building located at Simpson and Bethune.
Platoon chief Kelly Patterson says the blaze was called in around 3 o’clock.
He says when crews arrived they found smoke coming from the second floor and a second alarm was called.
The building was evacuated and the blaze was put out quickly.
Damage appears confined to the one unit.
A cat from the apartment was cared for by firefighters and Patterson said another one was also found safe. (Staff photo)
