Thunder Bay MP Don Rusnak is feeling the heat over comments he made at a recent committee hearing in Ottawa.
The Nishnawbe Aski Nation felt he was down playing the suicide health emergency that NAN declared.
However Rusnak says his words were twisted around and emphasizes he takes suicide emergencies seriously and they’re extremely important.
He says he was surprised by the controversy created over the issue and how his words were misinterpreted.
Rusnak suggests that everything you say at such a hearing needs to be explained to those who don’t understand committee work. (File photo)
